Your raise some outstanding points thank you Audra! Our inheritance in & through Christ Jesus is beyond phenomenal & amazing. We have been blessed with & given everything we need as we live upon & in this challenging realm & dimension and of course the Holy Spirit & Jesus dwelling within us are dynamic in enabling power, we serve an ALL POWERFUL CREATOR GOD whom is in total control also His Holy Spirit as the helper and comforter when we are in complete dependency and allowing ourselves to choose to submit to Heavenly father Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit, and His control upon our lives can we come to live as perpetual overcomers;

1 Peter 2:2

Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of ·God and of Jesus our ·Lord;

3🪔since his divine ·power hath granted to us all things unto life and godliness🪔, through the knowledge of him that called us through glory and virtue🔥;

4 whereby he hath granted us the precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, 🔥having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust🔥.

5 Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your ·faith supply ·virtue; and in ·virtue ·knowledge;

6 and in ·knowledge ·self-control; and in self-control ·patience; and in ·patience ·godliness;

7 and in ·godliness brotherly ·kindness; and in your brotherly ·kindness ·love.

8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle 🩸nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our ·Lord Jesus Christ🩸.

9 🔥For who lacketh these is blind, short-sighted, having forgotten the cleansing from his old ·sins🔥.

10 🪔Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for in doing these ye shall never stumble.

Wow! Do we see how powerful our inheritance given in & through our living God in Christ Jesus to all those born of the Spirit IS in and upon our everyday lives? May we all reach out our hand to touch the inside world of Jesus as the living word made alive in and through us. May we continue to allow ourselves to be broken and dealt with through much discipline and chastisement breaking all the outer self and worldly wisdom which is foolishness with God and of course God's wisdom is seen as follish and stupid to this world & the worldly, we too see this worlds wisdom as futile empty & foolishness, as we are given renewed regenerated minds so our spirit 'man' can break forth through the outer shell as we die to self, die to the world, die to the enemy satans system, to give way to newness of spirit life and beholding the Son, basking in His light & Glory bring forth shoots leaves and mature luscious tasting fruits that befit repentance and righteousness, blessing not only ourselves but others in the process. May we all continue to personally taste and see that God is so good! And

blessed are all those who takes refuge in him.

Very nicely done Audra.

My favourite line: “Can you go to Costco with me, God?”

I really like how the title is “less self help…” - nice recognition of nuances.

Two reasons I thought of:

A) self help comes from all over the place, not just in famous authors and books.

B) the fact is we get common grace wisdom from everywhere. Take a cook book for example.

It’s ok to be human and to learn. Let’s just watch who is leading.

This is wonderful advice! After being into the new age and self-development for over twenty years I will never touch anything remotely resembling self-help again. You are right about the circles - without God it’s just a hamster wheel. The Holy Spirit convicted me to only seek help through God and my brothers and sisters who follow him.

We can get bogged down with all the options. God gave some of these people we watch, read, or listen to wisdom. But we have to be careful not to put them on pedestals. You are so right about going to the throne instead of the phone. However, it is not always easy. It would be nice if it was a linear journey to stay on the path of going to God first. It is more of a zig-zag, pattern, not an A-Z thing. It takes practice and intentionality over time to make God our first resort.

For weeks I’ve been hearing Eugene Petersen’s paraphrase of Luke 9 “self help so no help at all,” here’s the full verse(s)!

“Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I’m leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels. This isn’t, you realize, pie in the sky by and by. Some who have taken their stand right here are going to see it happen, see with their own eyes the kingdom of God.””

‭‭Luke‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭27‬ ‭
